The Fattoria extends over 306 hectares (around 757 acres) at Montalcino and Scansano. Stefano, the heir of the ancient Sienese line that has been present in Montalcino since 1352, runs this family property.
The opening of the Fattoria cellar to the visitors in the 50s was one of the first steps toward wine tourism. After the death of Giovanni in 1976, the Fattoria has been managed first by his daughter Francesca and afterward by his nephew Stefano. They both developed and expanded the property, making it what is possible to see today. Today, Fattoria dei Barbi produces 800,000 bottles annually, including 200,000 bottles of Brunello di Montalcino.
The staff of the Fattoria will be pleased to welcome you at the winery and introduce you to the historical bottles, the magnificent barrels of the cellar and to the history of the Brunello. You’ll be taken on a trip through the history of the family, as well as the successive stages of the fermentation and aging of wine.
