The puppet theatre known as the 'Opera dei Pupi' emerged in Sicily at the beginning of the Nineteenth Century. Nowadays, Opera is the only example of an uninterrupted tradition of this kind of theatre.
In Ortigia, enter in Giudecca - the ancient Jewish district - and go inside the Pupi Museum, which is divided into several sections where you can discover the history of a famous puppets artisan family. Then, enjoy a pupi show that transports you through time in a magical atmosphere. The pupari narrate stories about French paladins, saints, and many local legends.
