The city of Matera, European Capital of Culture 2019, is known not only for its scenic and architectural beauties but mostly for its aromas and flavors of the culinary traditions of this place.
This unique tour combines food, architecture, and traditions. Meet your friendly local guide and start your experience walking from the meeting point to the bakery while learning curiosities about Matera food scene.You will enjoy a workshop on the production of the bread with a previous presentation and description of the bakery, that it’s active in the territory for four generations. The workshop starts with the explanation of the products, such as the best local semolina and yeast base. It continues with the description of the processing techniques: mixture, leavening, the creation of the shape of the bread and emission of the stamp type that characterizes the Bread of Matera.
During the realization of the shapes of the bread, you will work and create your own loaf of bread that at the end of cooking you can take away.At the end of the visit, finish this amazing experience in the best way with a tasting of typical products. You will taste bread with oil, tarallini, pettoline, and focaccia. Toast with a glass of fine local wine with your old and new friends.
