Full description
Depart Catania and journey to the medieval city of Savoca. Visit the catacombs of the Cappuccini Convent upon arrival and see the mummified monks and nobles from the history of the city. Taste an authentic granita from Sicily at Bar Vitelli, where scenes from the blockbuster movie The Godfather were shot.
Visit the ruins of the Teatro Greco (Greek Theatre) in Taormina at your own expense and get a panoramic view of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea. Stroll along the historic Corso Umberto to visit the cathedral and soak up the stunning views of the beautiful bay. Get recommendations on the best bars and restaurants to enjoy lunch at your own expense.
Continue to the medieval town of Castelmola and explore the narrow alleys from Piazza Sant’Antonio. Pop into small shops selling all kinds of souvenirs, lacework, and embroidery made by the local women. End with a coffee at Bar Turrisi, and try some of the local, sweet almond wine.
